The Cambridge Graphene Centre is now equipped with a Close Coupled Showerhead 2D (CCS2D/ MOCVD)!
We are excited to announce the arrival of the Close Coupled Showerhead (CCS) 2D, a cold wall Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) and Metal Organic CVD (MOCVD) system, at our facilities.
The CCS2D can produce single- and multi-layers of graphene, as well as Layered Materials (LMs) and hetero-structures (LMHs) on wafers up to 8”, a crucial requirement for integration in fab-level processes to accelerate impact. This capacity was missing in any UK University.
With the arrival of the CCS2D, the Cambridge Graphene Centre has now become the only UK and worldwide University Centre able to integrate LMs with silicon photonics (SiPh) on wafers up to 8”. The project partner University of Southampton will also make available 8” Si fabrication tools, some installed under CORNERSTONE, the UK SiPh prototyping foundry established thanks to EPSRC investments.
