About Us

Welcome to the forefront of innovation! The Layered Materials Research Foundry (LMRF), led by experts from the Cambridge Graphene Centre at the University of Cambridge and the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton, is poised to redefine the landscape of optoelectronics.

Why Layered Materials?

Layered materials (LMs) hold significant promise in the realm of advanced materials, driven by the remarkable properties exhibited by graphene. Graphene's exceptional characteristics, including high carrier mobility and tunable optical conductivity, have established it as a key player in the field. The exploration of LMs in heterostructures amplifies their potential, allowing for tailored properties that are crucial for diverse applications. The LMRF is committed to pushing the boundaries of both graphene and non-graphene LMs, particularly in the domain of quantum technology. By harnessing the benefits of these materials, the LMRF seeks to unlock new possibilities and applications, paving the way for advancements in quantum technology and beyond.

Join Us in Shaping the Future!

The LMRF is not just a facility; it's a community of innovators, thinkers and visionaries. Join us in pushing the boundaries of what's possible, as we create a link to industry, foster collaboration and pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in optoelectronics.
